“You can’t know what you don’t know.”

My intention is to offer what I know in an accessible way and spark a curiosity for more.

I am passionate about yoga, aligning myself in ways that allows my highest good to move forward and share all of it.

About

Hello and welcome everyone! My name is Julie, owner/operator of Julie Pequin Yoga. I have practiced yoga for over a decade, taught since 2018 and ran my own yoga business since 2019.

My true yoga journey began after suffering a low back injury at work. After months of recovery and rehabilitation, the first form of exercise I was permitted to do was yoga. I dove in expecting physical gains, a quick transition to my previous level of activity and to my surprise found something very different. I was humbled each class, learned quickly to let go of expectations as my progress through my injury did not always move forward. Sometimes feeling defeated or "stuck" and all I could do was breathe, not advance in the posture, just breathe. This is where I experienced first hand that yoga is so much more than a physical (asana) practice. I found the powerful connection between breath and state of mind, being in the here and now. It eased my pain/discomfort and brought me to crave time on my mat and that "post yoga feeling". I am grateful for my injury, the journey it offered to me and all of the journeys I have been on since.

A few fun facts about me: favorite color is purple, extremely dislike onions, married with 3 adult kids & 4 (soon to be 5) grandkids, frontline healthcare worker since 1997 (primarily in rehabilitation), grew up on Vancouver Island, BC, resident of Drayton Valley, AB, since 2000, an outdoor walk revives my spirit, favorite yoga pose is Ardha Chandrasana (Half Moon Pose) and my mission is to be a life long learner.
